A first for Australia

Nova was engaged by a client with a special project in mind. To design a special Care Centre for sufferers of Dementia.

This project would be a first for Australia because most Dementia sufferers are either looked after in nursing homes, private hospitals or live at home with home carers where no direct care is given.   With over 180,000 sufferers in Australia this special Care Centre was designed to adequately cater to the problem.

The design was extremely cost efficient and very utilitarian, with a central core where all the residence could gather and watch television and at the same time be in constant watch by the caring staff.

The star shape provided different courtyards on all sides with undercover outdoor areas for family enjoyment.  All areas are accessible through the central core which makes it very manageable.
